Present in the middle and upper Congo River basin (Ref. 78218, 82238) including Pool Malebo (= Stanley Pool) and the drainages of the Kasai and Ubangi, but not in the central basin, High Katanga and Luapula-Mweru (Ref. 82238). Known from Pool Malebo and the Kinsuka rapids just below, the middle Congo River mainstream, Ubangi, Uele, lower Ruki near its confluence with the middle Congo mainstream, Itimbiri, Wagenia Falls, Sankuru, Luvua (Lualaba tributary), upper Lualaba (Ref. 82238), Lomami (Ref. 106245), Aruwimi (Ref. 106290) and Kwilu (Ref. 89725).
